Baltic Earth international Winter Schools are spin-offs of our successful Summer Schools, organized and hosted by Markus Meier of Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research Warnemünde, and co-organized by the International Baltic Earth Secretariat at Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht, Germany. They attract students from all Earth system research disciplines from all around the Baltic Sea region and even outside Europe. In contrast to the summer schools, the winter schools focus more on modelling and statistical methods of regional climate research in the Baltic Sea region. Lectures and hands-on sessions impart in-depth knowledge on how statistical methods can be used for the analysis of climate variability. This year´s winter school is held digitally between 17 and 26 March 2021 and has students from Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Sweden, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Ukraine and Tunesia and teachers from different international institutes. We are looking forward to holding the next winter school face-to-face at the banks of the Baltic Sea. Keep checking the Baltic Earth website for announcements for the next Baltic Earth Summer- and Winter Schools!
