Statement by the members of the Baltic Earth Science Steering Group from EU member states concerning the aggression of the current Russian government in Ukraine

The science network of Baltic Earth has tasked itself with the understanding of the environmental dynamics, state and future perspectives of the Baltic Sea region.

We, the members of the Baltic Earth Science Steering Group from EU member states, condemn the aggression by the present Russian government against Ukraine as a crude and unacceptable violation of international law and a severe threat for development, including science, in the region. We demand this aggression to end immediately.

We trust that the presence of our broad science network will be beneficial in overcoming the damage done to the pan-Baltic society once the hostilities end.
